About Jean

Jean Nordhaus is the author of eight poetry collections. Her poems have appeared in American Poetry Review, The New Republic, Poetry, Prairie Schooner, and numerous other venues, and she has published over 60 essays, articles, and poetry and dance reviews in The Washington Post, The Washington Review of the Arts, and other publications. She formerly served as poetry coordinator at the Folger Shakespeare Library, and for eight years was the Review Editor of Poet Lore.

Her awards include the Calladay Prize from the Quarterly Review of Literature, the Ohio State University Press/The Journal Award, and the Consuelo Ford Award from the Poetry Society of America.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she studied Philosophy at Barnard College and earned a PhD in German Studies from Yale University. She lives on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC and part-time in Taos, New Mexico.
